Why do I start a blog?

Why do I start a blog?

One simply questions, but more than one reason. Let's figure this out.

It started with the idea of my own website. I do so much stuff like videos (Vimeo and/or YouTube), broadcasting my games on a livestream (Justin.tv) or making some music (Twiturm) and I felt like I needed a plattform where you can find it all without searching hundreds of tiny posts...
So far, everything was just around my Twitter-Account, but I needed more. 140 letters to tell everyone all the stuff I do was simply not enough and I needed a change with that.
I like the idea of microblogging and I really enjoy to twitter, but (especially) the last days put up some topics which 1. needed more then the limited letters and 2. needed to be discussed. The reply - function is nice, but overall I don't see Twitter as a kind of messenger and long conversations don't make much sense for me on that plattform.
The idea of an own website was born, but didn't really work for me. I know nothing about programming a website and didn't want to ask my mates everytime. "Can you post I have a new song on my site?" "Can you tell me how many visits that site has?" "I've done a text, about something on my mind, can you post it for me?" I don't wanted to be that annoying, so I searched for something I could do all by myself.

*fast - forward*

2 days ago the idea of an website changed. I had a conversation with myself about blogging. I liked the main idea, but, just like programming a website, I
know knew to little about that. "Google, my friend, tell me more about it!" And google did...
(2 little notes at this point: Yes! I have conversations with myself. Yes, google can be a good friend, if you know how to use it. ;] )

When I found this I just decided to sign up and have a closer look. What can I do here? Is this "just" blogging? What else can I do? How about showing the other stuff I do? Is it easy to embed twitter in this? (That's something I definatelly wanted cause I'll still be pretty addicted to microblogging anyway.) What about the Layout? Will this just look "standart" or do I have options to change this thing?

Gladly I can say: I like it.

I like the idea behind that word "blogging". I like the possibilitys I have on this site. I like the fact that it's way more easy then I imagined to design my own blog, which turned out better than the originally idea: the own website. I don't have to care about everything, I can do the stuff that I wanted, people can comment my thoughts and discuss the stuff I do, say or think. And, at least, IT'S FOR FREE!

So, enough for the start. I may change some finer details, but overall I'm pretty happy how this looks and works. Now, everyone, I hope I don't do this just for my own ammusement. Comment my stuff, click on the links, have a look to the other stuff I do. You might not like everything, but when there's even one thing you like, it's a "win" for me.

Dears,
Redmaker
